Top 7 graduate fellowship programmes in Kenya

African graduates, listen up! CapitalFM, a Kenya-based radio station had some great news for graduates this week, detailing the top graduate fellowship programmes in the country. This immediately caught our attention as, not only do we like to keep our ear to the ground in terms of graduate news, we actually work alongside these of the organisations mentioned right here at Gradlink!

Graduate fellowship programmes are set up by large corporates to attract the best graduate recruits. Once selected, graduates are immersed in the company’s corporate culture, trained up and made job-ready for when a permanent position becomes available. But which companies made the cut? Let’s find out…

1. PwC

Graduate recruitment at PwC starts in February and is open from 26th February to 28th March. After the applications have been processed comes the assessments, which determine your strengths, competencies, communication skills and work ethic. These are followed by a series of interviews geared at testing said traits. Successful candidates will be offered a place in the international auditing firm.

2. KPMG

Next on the list and another friend of GradLink comes KPMG. This auditing, tax and advisory firm has a graduate scheme not dissimilar to PwC’s. Don’t forget that you can apply for other roles at this company by browsing our job board.

3. Deloitte

Kenya has a thing for auditing and tax firms it seems as Deloitte comes in third on the list of top graduate schemes. Applications are set to open in early 2017 and successful candidates will have to ace an aptitude test as well as a series of interviews.

4. McKinsey and Company

McKinsey and Company has gained continent-wide interest due to its scheme, the East Africa Young Leaders Programme. It all starts with an online application, but be prepared for problem solving tests, multistage interviews and fierce competition.

5. Cytonn Investments

Application dates vary widely depending on the position, but tend to be between January and August. If successful, you will be able to participate in its intensive 12-week training programme. You can apply via the career portal on the company's website.

6. Centum Investments

Centum Investments is ideal for graduates with degrees in Architectural and Building Sciences, Business, Mathematics, Humanities, or ICT. Individuals with CFA, CPA, ACCA or ACII qualifications also have a considerable advantage here.

7. Unilever

Choose between the Unilever Future Leaders Programme, which runs for three years, or the Unilever Internship Programme that lasts for 12 weeks. There are innumerable roles within the company in departments ranging from customer development to finance, human resources, IT, marketing, R&D and supply chain.
