Job openings are becoming aplenty in the country as new job specializations opened up new opportunities. The abundance of new job offers are both from the private and the public sector. Not only that, salary rates are also improving to its highest level in three years.

Salary rates grow

highest in 3 years

Salary rates in the country have increased by 7 percent on the average across all job levels in 2015, the highest salary increase in the past three years, an online talent and employment marketplace.

Philip Gioca, country manager of Jobstreet.com Philippines, said the results of its National Salary Report showed the increase in salary rates in 2015 averaged 7 percent with the IT industry posting the highest growth at 10 percent growth. “This is the highest growth in the past three years,” Gioca said.

Gioca said the significant rise in salary rate is attributed to the good economy, lowest unemployment rates in years, and the resulting competitive play in the job market.

Results of its study are based on job postings from 22,000 companies/employers. As the country’s largest online employment platform since 1999, Jobstreet.com has 6.9 million candidates on its database and between 180,000 to 200,000 job offers.

Based on its survey, the IT field continued its 3-year trend of providing the highest paying jobs across all position levels.

The BPO industry continues to post the highest prospects for jobseekers in general.

The IT field led all other specializations in terms of salary offering, and covering all the major ranks namely, junior executives (R38,189), supervisors (R63,485) and managers (R86,550).

Salaries, especially for junior executives (employees with 1-4 years’ work experience) and supervisors (employees with 5-9 years’ work experience), increased from at least 2 to 12 percent).

The total number of job advertisements posted in 2015 increased by at least 20% compared to ads posted in 2014.

Aside from being the highest paid, IT jobs account for a third of total job offers.

Other industries providing the most jobs are retail and manufacturing.

New job categories that enter in the junior level are banking, finance and business development.

There are also four new job specializations that enter in the managerial level. These are corporate strategy, actuarial science, armed forces/security and training and development. Journalism and public relations jobs have fallen out of the top ten most hired workers.

Gioca said that in its 15 years of operation, JobStreet’s report on job trends had allowed multiple benefits, namely:

Benchmarking of one’s own salary against the highest paid in their category; awareness of jobs in demand; guiding not only jobseekers but also providing career guidance counsellors, facts on job marketplace.
