Pizza Hut officially launched its first restaurant in Myanmar

On 24th November 2015, the fast food giant Pizza Hut opened its first branch in Yangon’s Golden Valley, Myanmar. Vipul Chawla, the managing director of Pizza Hut Restaurants Asia Pte Ltd said, the time is right and the company hopes to take advantage of the country’s growing economy.

In a country with a population of 50 million people, Pizza Hut finds it a great opportunity for them to build the business in Myanmar. In the next five years, it plans to open 15 to 20 restaurants that focus on dining experience.

For Myanmar market, the company more likely targets the millennial customers (born between the early 1980s and early 2000s) instead of families as usual.

Currently, Pizza Hut has created 100 direct jobs for the first restaurant. The plan is to have 500 jobs in the next couple of years with a focus on great training for their staff to make sure there is consistency in terms of the standards they are offering.

Regarding supply chain, Pizza Hut is committed to work with local suppliers where possible, without compromising on Pizza Hut’s international quality standards. The company sources ingredients like cheese, sauce and topping from overseas. Whereas, the flour that goes with dough comes from locals, in addition to many other items.
