You will join the research and development team and take on a project of your own that could take up to a year to complete. This project is likely to be set depending on the research needs of the business but the direction the project will take can be shaped to suit your interests and any ideas you may have. The project is likely to be related to optimizing the topology of the components to improve their performance.
During this project you will undertake computer-based modelling which could include the use of CAD, FEA and python scripting. You will then validate their results by undertaking physical testing of components. Tests can include tensile, compression and torque tests. Our site has a large testing capability which includes a noise and vibration chamber. All training for software and testing will be provided and no prior knowledge is expected.
At the end of each project there is a close out meeting in which you will be required to present your project findings and learnings to a group of people across the business.
As part of the year in industry you will also have the opportunity to engage with all engineering aspects of the business to get a full picture of how a component is designed and manufactured.
