Job Title: Assistant Planner
Division: UK Construction / Construction North
Location: Birmingham
Construction North is part of the UK Construction business and includes the Midlands, the North and Scotland. Projects on average range between £5 - £50 million and are primarily based in the Public Sector with some projects in the Private Sector. Sectors include Leisure, Justice, Defence, Education, Health and Commercial offices.
Role Purpose:
As an Assistant Planner you will support Planners and Senior Planners on live projects in the Midlands region, in particular West Midlands / Birmingham area.
Key Accountabilities:
- Provide assistance and input into the delivery of a total planning service for preconstruction and live projects
- Participates and demonstrates development in planning and programme-related meetings and forums for planning staff within the specific business
- Provide assistance and support in outputs to all levels of management that both planning and programme related risk is controlled
- Participate in review of projects that have deviated from plan and strategy, subsequent cause and effect and demonstrate learning and understanding to develop contributions to action plans and decisions as to best way forward
- Attend and participate in preparation and participation in formal meetings and presentations
Skills & Experience
- Worked as an assistant planner or relevant construction management experience
- Understanding of the pre-construction and construction process and requisite contractual mechanisms
- Developing understanding of conceptual planning abilities
- Some planning experience in the Construction sector and experience using Asta Powerproject, MS Project or P6 Primavera
Qualifications:
Degree, HND or equivalent in construction-related discipline (Preferred)
