The Opportunity –

Based in our Toronto office, this student role places you at the centre of creative, technical, and human‑focused design. As a Lighting Design Student within our Building/Transportation M&E team, you’ll support the development of lighting concepts for iconic spaces across sectors including transportation, healthcare, commercial, educational, cultural, entertainment, and government facilities.
Your work will help shape environments where people move, heal, learn, gather, and thrive.

Your Impact

• Assist in producing creative lighting concepts from schematic design through detailed design.
• Support the preparation of plans, lighting layouts, sketches, visualizations, and design details.
• Conduct basic lighting calculations under mentorship from senior designers.
• Help build mock‑ups and contribute to design presentations.
• Maintain design files, drawing sets, and project documentation.
• Prepare 2D drafting and support 3D modeling exercises.
• Research current design trends, technologies, and fixture innovations.
• Collaborate closely with senior designers and multidisciplinary project teams.
• Support a positive, organized, and detail‑driven design workflow.

The Skills That Set You Apart

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s program in Architecture, Interior Design, Lighting Design, Architectural Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Knowledge of Revit, or other design tools.
• Familiarity with 3D modeling programs (SketchUp or similar) is an asset.
• Ability to interpret architectural drawings and understand spatial relationships.
• Creative thinker with strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
• Able to manage multiple tasks, stay organized, and thrive in a fast‑paced team environment.
• Comfortable communicating ideas visually — including hand sketches.

Compensation

AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $24.00 – $32.25/hr
MB & ON: $22.50 – $30.25/hr
NB, NL, NS, PEI & QC: $21.50 – $30.25/hr
