Do you have a flare for the complex? If so our Energy Consulting team are looking for an Associate Energy Engineer (Energy Utilities Infrastructure) to join our expanding team in the London office. 

We have established a track record of project delivery in the UK, US, Middle East and South East Asia and looking to reinforce this offer.

The Energy team specialises in energy system policy, planning, design and delivery at individual scheme, campus, city and regional scales. We work from concept strategy through to detailed design and delivery including energy and power systems modelling, techno-economic analysis, smart grid architecture development and systems design.

Our energy consultancy team offer includes  smart energy and  electrical power design services to diverse clients such as national, regional and local government, campus and private network owner operators and utilities.  This includes advisory services to clients working with them to develop strategy, think beyond business as usual and take them through the energy journey.

Our very strong portfolio of work includes advising clients on how best to provide utilities to their proposed development. We provide commercial, regulatory and cost advice to both suppliers and customers on heating/cooling/power and ESCo arrangements.

  • Innovative low carbon schemes including waste heat from the sewage treatment process, minewater and deep geothermal
  • International masterplan schemes in Middle East, Europe and beyond
  • UK based large scale industrial and mixed use developments
  • County and region-wide renewable studies

Required Skills

  • Degree level, or equivalent, in either and Engineering or Commercial/Financial discipline.
  • Ability to manage themselves effectively across multiple projects including project and programme management skills, ideally with some experience of working as a consultant.
  • Ability to determine initial customer requirements and ensure this is used effectively to determine the best outcome for a development.
  • Strong numerical analysis and modelling skills 
  • Knowledge, experience and understanding of utility infrastructure.
  • Understanding of the regulation of utilities in the UK and other jurisdictions and an ability to think outside the box when working in non-liberalised market structures
  • Understanding of delivering projects / deals in the energy, utilities or infrastructure sectors.
  • Experience liaising with a range of stakeholders, organising and participating in workshops.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to communicate technical subjects to technical and non-technical audiences

Desirable skills

  • Preparation of tender documents, commercial model proformas, key contractual terms, risk allocation approaches and evaluation criteria
  • An understanding of different utility infrastructure systems
  • Business case development
  • Understanding of the market and supply chain for utility infrastructure including power/smart grid, water, wastewater, district energy, comms and drainage in the UK and other jurisdictions
  • Knowledge and experience of customer care, metering and billing services
