Are you BMS professional looking to shape the future of our planet? Buro Happold is looking to recruit an Assistant BMS & Controls Engineer for our rapidly growing Digital Advisory team in the UK, based from either Bath or London.

This opportunity would suit someone at the start of their BMS career looking to grow their experience in a consultancy context. 

Buro Happold’s newly formed Digital Advisory team focuses on delivering technology and information transformation to clients to enhance their financial, environmental and social performance (the triple-bottom-line).  

Our projects vary considerably; from defining the smart city technologies that will transform the resident, worker or visitor experience, to developing a sophisticated data-driven 3D model of a university campus to determine the most effective route to net zero carbon, to outlining the team, processes and policies required for our clients to manage data quickly and securely... However, all our projects have engineering or ‘real-world asset’ expertise at their core and it is that, with our relentless focus on the triple-bottom-line, that makes us unique.  

The team works across a range of consulting areas including strategy, business case development, program management, data, governance, solution development, innovation and change management. We are looking for consultants who want to collaborate with other offices, our experts in design, and technologists internally and externally to make a real-world difference. 

Key Duties 

  • Working on a broad range of projects to support other disciplines and contributing to integrated controls & BMS design including production of design deliverables.
  • Alongside a more senior member of the team, providing support & training to engineering teams in the effective and efficient operation of Integrated systems design.
  • Supporting the review, update and curation of UK standard BMS & controls specifications.
  • Where appropriate, supporting the development of our Building Diagnostics service offerings. 
  • Contributing to the development of design tools & processes.  

Your skills & experience 

  • Some experience working in the BMS and controls industry. 
  • Ideally you will have a relevant qualification in building services engineering, mechanical/electrical, or instrumentation engineering etc. 
  • Working knowledge of control logic for outcomes such as comfort, energy performance, and effective FM operations. 
  • Familiarity with the wider BMS and controls market, and trends in technology adoption.     
  • Excellent computer and IT skills, including; office suite and ideally some programming knowledge. 
  • Self-motivated to identify tasks and more effective/efficient ways of delivering value to our clients.

  • Hybrid working and international remote working for up to 4 weeks per year.  
  • Parental leave, up to six months on full salary.
