The Energy unit are currently seeking a Graduate Electrical Engineer to join our growing renewable energy team in Sofia, Bulgaria. The successful candidate will provide project and electrical engineering support in the delivery of owner’s engineer and lender’s technical advisor roles on large scale renewable energy projects.

Duties and responsibilities of the successful candidate may include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing electrical engineering technical input into projects at various stages (from feasibility to preliminary and detailed design, construction and operational stages)
  • Undertake technical reviews of electrical engineering design documentation, including system studies prepared by third parties and grid connection agreements and reporting on findings
  • Liaison with transmission systems operator or distribution system operators before and during the delivery of renewable energy projects
  • Support senior project managers and project principals as part of multi-disciplinary project teams
  • Flexibility to travel internationally on a regular basis
  • Contribute to the preparation of proposals and/or cost estimates for renewable energy projects as well as tender preparation and negotiation
  • Contribute to commercial agreements and contracts to ensure project risks are mitigated
  • Support in the management of interfaces between the main contractors
  • Review/monitor contractors’ progress against programme and monitor the progress relating to key project milestones
  • Manage the process of regular meetings, communications and reports to the project principal and client contacts, which provide accurate and timely information to support their understanding of strategic risks, issues, opportunities, impacts and progress

Candidate Specification

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, or closely related degree





Job Skills/Competencies Required

  • Demonstrable understanding of grid connection process
  • Excellent written and oral interpersonal skills (English) to communicate with technical and non-technical colleagues and clients
  • Ability to interpret electrical system studies and define key risks
  • Excellent report writing and presentation skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with project teams, stakeholders (including contractors) and clients
  • Ability to contribute to the preparation of technical reports and specifications / employer’s requirements to a high-quality standard

Desirable Criteria

  • Relevant experience in a project management and/or electrical engineering role ideally in the renewable energy sector
  • Understanding of current and relevant health and safety regulations, good industry practice and engineering standards
  • Understanding of commercial contracts and negotiations
  • Understanding of the owner’s engineer role
  • Understanding of technical due diligence process
