Job Description & Qualifications

In the Logistics and Supply Chain stream of Ocado we will have 250 people working in 30+ development teams across 3 development centres.

We have a large variety and quantity of data which we use to continuously improve the way we work and inform decisions on how to improve our products. Moving forward we have ambitious plans to rethink the way we use data, making it easier to access, report on, create insights, make changes to our ways of working and measure the impact. Whether it be understanding our rate of delivery, predicting future delivery dates or assessing the impact of a new feature, data and analytics are foundational to what we do.

As such we need an experienced BI Analyst/Developer to help us architect, build and maintain a data mart and BI tooling, using the most appropriate technology and data structures to deliver real actionable insights.

Roles & Responsibilities 

You will be part of a small group and will have responsibility for:

  • Supporting the product management and engineering teams through regular and ad-hoc analysis of technical and non-technical metrics, automating as much as possible.
  • Understanding the reporting requirements and designing BI reports and dashboards.
  • Building relationships with business users and stakeholders
  • Understanding department processes and goals
  • Identifying required data sources and building data transformation tools 
  • Understanding and enhancing the data architecture
  • Designing data models within the context of a data mart

Qualifications

  • 2:1 or First class degree in Computer Science, Maths, Physics, Engineering or similar highly numerate subject


Job Skills/Competencies Required

Essential

  • Significant demonstrable experience in a Business Intelligence Analyst or Developer rolesStrong ability to query relational databases using SQL
  • Strong ability to manipulate data from data sources such as Json APIs
  • Understanding of scripting languages such as Python or JavaScript
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to gather and understand business requirements
  • In-depth knowledge and experience of data-warehousing strategies and techniques
  • Experience with a Business Intelligence platform e.g. Data Studio, Tableau, QlikView, Actuate BIRT
  • Statistical analysis skills, e.g. statistical significance
  • Fluency in English and Polish, both spoken and written

Desirable

  • Experience of Agile software development methodologies, for example Scrum or Kanban.
  • Experience of Google Cloud Platform, Data Studio & BigQuery
  • Experience of Jira APIs
  • Experience of leading and directing other analysts/developers
  • Experience of the warehouse or fulfilment domain including key business process and measures
