Rainy River Mine

Situated in beautiful northwestern Ontario, 65 km northwest of Fort Frances, the Rainy River Mine is an open pit, gold and silver producing, residential mine site.

Relocation Required.
The Rainy River Mine, located adjacent to the Ontario / Minnesota border is 65 Kilometers northwest of Fort Frances, Ontario and is situated half way between Winnipeg, Manitoba and Thunder Bay, Ontario  The area is home to more than 130 species of birds and large populations of moose, black bear and deer. If you enjoy outdoor activities including hunting, fishing, winter sports and lake country then this is an area you will love to live and work in.

About the Role

Position Reports To: Senior Engineer

Position Overview

The Mine EIT will be well rounded in Dispatch operations and have a sound knowledge of what needs to be achieved within the Wenco System.  They will be responsible for reporting and maintaining both the system health and software.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with new HPGPS Installs
  • Run System Health checks
  • Carry out audit on physical components of Wenco
  • Update bench manager and check route/road segment viability
  • Access Beacon checkups
  • Dump playback checkups
  • Check Data Integrity and Wenco shift edits
  • Troubleshoot and fix any system issues from previous shifts
  • Monitor Fueling and Engine hours entered assist with fuel management
  • Communicate between Wenco and Dispatchers with any help related issues
  • Training and clarification for Dispatchers and operators
  • Create help tools and How to guides for Dispatchers and other users
  • Update Targets on the Visual boards
  • Provide adhoc reports as required
  • Coordinate with Electricians to resolve any outstanding or new hardware issues
  • Investigate and work with Wenco to resolve outstanding cases
  • Looking out for your team, providing leadership wherever possible and working in a safe effective manner
  • Assist with other technical tasks as required as well as “data mining" to determine root causes of system failures.


  • Bachelor of Applied Science or significant Mining exposure

  • Ability to exercise a high degree of good judgment and independence while evaluating emergency and non-emergency situations and the ability to make split-second decisions
  • Ability to multi-task, gather and disseminate information clearly, accurately, and rapidly in urgent situations
  • Ability to identify pros and cons of pursuing an alternative course of action when problems arise.
  • Ability to operate a wide variety of computers, radios and recording equipment
