The Opportunity:

If you have a keen interest in physical hydrogeology, come join our Hydrogeology and Geosciences team in London! As junior hydrogeologist, you will work with our team to deliver projects within Ontario, bringing academic and work experience directly related to physical hydrogeology, groundwater resource development, and source water protection, to the table. You will be part of an exciting growing team to expand your field and reporting skills as a junior member of the team.

A day in the life:

  • You will be collaborating with environmental and engineering teams to deliver high quality products to clients
  • You will be completing background documentation reviews
  • You'll conduct field investigations including drilling and monitoring well installations aquifer testing programs, groundwater quality sampling, sediment and surface water sampling
  • You will oversee drilling and excavation contractors
  • You will conduct management of water, soil, sediment quality data
  • You'll provide input to the development of conceptual hydrogeological models
  • You will complete data analysis which may include hydraulic conductivity tests, pump tests, review of water quality data
  • You may be assisting in hydrogeological interpretations and groundwater-surface water interactions
  • You'll support in the preparation of reports following scientific principles with clear and concise presentation of information in a manner that can be understood by the general public
  • You may be assisting in the preparation of proposals
  • You will be actively participating in health and safety programs

What you'll bring to WSP ...

  • Bachelor or Masters degree specializing in Hydrogeology, Earth Sciences, Geosciences, Engineering or related discipline with a focus on physical hydrogeology; 
  • 1 - 3 years previous applicable work experience
  • Your eligibility for registration as a Geoscientist in Training or Engineer in Training in Ontario
  • Your demonstrated experience conducting investigations and related reporting
  • Your experience in the practical application of numerical groundwater modelling programs is considered an asset
  • Your willingness to be mobile in the London area, a valid driver's license, and access to a reliable vehicle.

Job Skills/Competencies Required

  • Your knowledge and experience in field practices such as drilling, well completions, single-well response testing, pumping tests, site characterizations, and monitoring programs
  • Your demonstrated experience utilizing GIS for geospatial analyses is considered an asset
  • Your ability to work in a fast-paced environment with flexibility to work on a variety of projects, tasks and assignments at one time, responding easily to changing priorities
  • Your excellent English (verbal /written) communication skills
  • Your working knowledge of Microsoft Office products
