Manulife/John Hancock Investments is currently seeking highly motivated university undergraduate finance, economics and business candidates, graduating in spring 2023, to apply for a comprehensive development program sponsored by the Chief Investment Officer and the President and CEO, Global Wealth and Asset Management. This extensive two-year rotational program is designed to develop highly motivated individuals with a strong interest in financial services and investment management. Through a variety of assigned six-month rotations, candidates will have the opportunity to gain valuable diverse experience with multiple asset classes and back, middle, and front office exposure. Working with a variety of Assignment Managers, these rotations are intended to maximize the opportunity to acquire technical knowledge and gain an appreciation of the diversity of the asset origination and asset management businesses within the context of a large global financial services firm.

We are looking for candidates who have the following: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics or Business Administration
  • Working knowledge of investment/financial markets
  • Helpful: enrollment in CFA

Note:  Financial assistance is provided to cover some of the costs associated with completing the CFA designation.

This position is subject to the Securities and Exchange Commission's Pay-to-Play Rule 206(4)-5 regarding political contributions by investment advisers and their covered associates.  This position requires compliance with the rule and applicable company policies on political contributions.  The absence of certain political contributions is a condition of this position.  Candidates will be required to disclose political contribution activity which will be subject to review to ensure compliance with the rule, as a pre-condition to employment. Additionally, this position is subject to a code of ethics as a condition of employment.  Once hired, the code imposes restrictions and obligations on the candidate and the candidate's household members regarding their personal securities investment activities as well as prohibits the use of certain brokerage firms.

  • Familiarity with a variety of financial products and services  
  • Demonstrated knowledge of accounting, financial or investment analysis techniques
  • Ability to be flexible, creative and show initiative while working in a challenging and fast paced environment
  • Strong written & oral communication skills
  • Solid computer experience using Excel, Word and PowerPoint, with a strong aptitude for learning new software packages
  • Familiarity with statistical analysis (quantitative & qualitative)
