This is a remote, work from home opportunity.

This is a role within the North America Learning and Development team and we are looking for someone with the knowledge and passion to design relevant, engaging, and effective learner-centric training solutions to enhance learner effectiveness. Our team supports Canada and US Retirement field sales and relationship management teams. The Instructional Designer will implement tactics to provide training and development support for building high performance, professional learning focused on soft skills, product training, new hire training, etc. As part of this, the Instructional Designer will build strong relationships with field staff while collaborating with subject matter experts from other business areas. The diversity of the audiences we support will require the successful candidate to be proficient with all aspects of the instructional design process, multiple delivery methods, and the development of metrics to determine effectiveness. You will need to be self-motivated, resourceful and thrive in a constantly evolving environment. Creativity is a must to be successful in this role, as well as the ability to ask deeper questions from an adult learning perspective.

Our ideal candidate will be customer-focused, experienced in sales training with an educational background in Adult Education/Training. You must have a strong capacity for retaining information and be extremely capable of working independently. Remaining current in industry standards and trends is just a start; the successful candidate will be a dedicated life-long learner who is always opening up the boundaries on what is possible with curriculum design.

Key Accountabilities

  • Conduct needs analysis using sound design principles to identify and define training needs in collaboration with Learning and Development Consultants
  • Collaborate with other instructional designers, learning and development consultants, subject matter experts and business leaders to ensure effective communication of issues, needs, problems and opportunities
  • Communicates effectively in visual, oral, and written form
  • Design/Develop and implement training materials including storyboard, participant and instructor guides, job aids, coaching resources, and assessments
  • Design training solutions that meet the needs of the Adult Learner, writing and editing content, testing solutions for readiness and usability
  • Develops comprehensive measurement strategies for all learning solutions to demonstrate business impact and effectiveness
  • Remains a thought leader in instructional design and innovation.
  • Designs learning that reflects an understanding of the diversity of learners, including the demonstrated understanding of cultural differences that may apply
  • Acquires and applies new technology skills to instructional design practice

Job Requirements

  • 2-3 years of formal instructional design experience preferred, including conducting in-depth needs assessment using ADDIE (or similar) design model.
  • Knowledge of, and the ability to apply adult learning principles
  • Ability to think critically and ask targeted questions to determine needs and respond appropriately
  • Creative and innovative
  • Experience with multiple delivery methods, including e-learning initiatives
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • 1-2 years’ experience in a training or classroom environment preferred
  • University/College degree in an education-related field (B. Ed, Adult Education or equivalent) preferred
  • Portfolio of adult learning designs

Salary & Benefits

Primary Location: CAN, Ontario - Full Time Remote

Salary range is expected to be between $55,125.00 CAD - $91,875.00 CAD

The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training.
