Reporting to the Corporate Controller, the Corporate Accountant supports the organization’s corporate accounting function while accurately accumulating and maintaining financial information. This individual will be responsible for completing various accounting duties while adhering to deadlines and the company’s financial and accounting guidelines. The ideal candidate Is someone with a strong accounting background, demonstrates attention to detail, and can manage competing priorities to meet tight deadlines.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Timely and accurate preparation of the monthly, quarterly and annual close which includes preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations and variance analysis.
  • General ledger maintenance and subsidiary-level financial statement preparation
  • Working with various departments and external vendors to verify the accuracy and completeness of period-end accruals.
  • Support in the annual consolidated audit and lead entity level statutory audits with external Audit firms
  • Liaise with external advisors to support statutory reporting and tax requirements in local jurisdictions, including the preparation of recurring VAT and/or GST tax returns.
  • Monitor internal control environment and implement changes as needed
  • Prepares various ad hoc reports and other special projects for management as requested.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance required, enrollment in the CPA program a plus.
  • Minimum 2 - 3 years of relevant experience in a corporate accounting or public accounting capacity, with a proven ability to work in a fast-paced and constantly changing environment.
  • Experience with IFRS or US GAAP accounting standards.
  • Experience with NetSuite is an asset.

Job Skills/Competencies Required

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to summarize high volumes of transactions.
  • Excellent quantitative, reasoning and analytical skills with a strong proficiency in MS Office and Google Suite applications (ex. Excel, Word, Google Sheets)
  • Strong team and communication skills
  • Results oriented and proactive thinker able to recommend solutions and drive process improvements.
  • High degree of ownership and able to manage own time effectively to meet tight deadlines.
