Do you have organizational and problem-solving skills, in addition to having a passion for adult learning? If so, take this wonderful opportunity to join the Miller Thomson team as a Professional Development Coordinator. This 13-month contract position is offered in our Montreal office as part of our National Professional Development Team. Reporting to the Director, Professional Development, the successful candidate is responsible for the coordination and successful implementation of our national professional development initiatives. She also acts as an ambassador for the firm by leading several orientation sessions.

  • loves teaching others the skills they need to do their jobs well;
  • possesses exceptional organizational and time management skills and demonstrates great thoroughness;
  • has gained direct experience in coordinating event logistics or training sessions;
  • enjoys facilitating training sessions; and
  • enjoys working in a team.

Main tasks :

  • coordinate the logistics of training sessions, including invitations, reminders and room preparation;
  • liaise with speakers and presenters of training sessions to manage necessary materials and logistics;
  • ensure that session information is properly tracked;
  • Help organize sessions for corporate counsel by managing invitations and the response process;
  • manage all sessions specifically addressed to the Montreal office, which includes in particular the selection of presenters and suppliers; and
  • participate in the facilitation of orientation sessions for new recruits in order to promote their integration into the firm.

Job Skills/Competencies Required

  • working knowledge of principles related to adult learning;
  • unparalleled competence in administration, for example, management of agendas, time and documents;
  • excellent organizational, problem solving and analytical skills;
  • great ease of communication, both oral and written;
  • at least two years of experience in coordinating event logistics or training sessions;
  • fluency in French and English, both oral and written - required
  • legal or professional services experience an asset.
