Situated in beautiful northwestern Ontario, 65 km northwest of Fort Frances, the Rainy River Mine is an open pit, gold and silver producing, residential mine site.
 
The Rainy River Mine, located adjacent to the Ontario / Minnesota border is 65 Kilometers northwest of Fort Frances, Ontario and is situated half way between Winnipeg, Manitoba and Thunder Bay, Ontario  The area is home to more than 130 species of birds and large populations of moose, black bear and deer. If you enjoy outdoor activities including hunting, fishing, winter sports and lake country then this is an area you will love to live and work in.

Applicants who reside in Northwestern Ontario and have experience working in a cross-cultural environment, coupled with knowledge of the unique challenges and opportunities presented to those living in the Northwest Ontario, are assets. Position Reports To: Manager, Human Resources

Location: Rainy River Mine Site

Position Overview

Reporting to the Manager, Human Resources, the Communications Coordinator will collaborate closely with the Site Leadership Team to manage internal and external communications and the planning/execution of Rainy River’s media relations and social media efforts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the development and execution of a wide range of communications materials (email communications/e-newsletters, FAQs, presentations, etc.)
  • Coordinate the planning, writing, editing, production and distribution of fact sheets, reports, newsletters, presentations, displays, and other publications
  • Develop cascading materials to front line employees regarding Rainy River Strategic Plans
  • Coordinate and develop with Human resources people engagement activities
  • Work closely with Corporate Communications Specialist and Corporate HR to align on cascading of Company-wide initiatives
  • Support the development of New Gold recruitment campaign materials regarding Community outreach and On Campus Recruitment
  • Perform onsite event duties including, undertaking or coordinating photography, setting up presentations and obtaining approvals for materials
  • Develop local photo library to be used in written communications
  • Support the attendance of career affairs and campus recruitment events as needed
  • Monitor trends in web and social media tools, applications, channels, design and provide recommendations on opportunities to position Rainy River as Northern Ontario’s Employer of Choice
  • Research, plan, develop and implement communication and engagement strategies to support client initiatives, events, programs and campaigns
  • Develop, monitor and evaluate digital strategies for client projects
  • Create and manage databases and tracking tables
  • Perform administrative and other related job duties

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in English, Journalism, Communications or equivalent field of study; a Certificate in Marketing Communication would be considered an asset
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working in communications, preferably in the mining or natural resources sector
  • Experience in a professional communication, marketing, or writing role, with demonstrated experience generating social media, website, and print content
  • Experience in outreach strategies for internal/external audiences, enquiry-response management, crisis communications and issues management; and government relations
