The Product Documentation team provides expert communications advice and delivers clear, concise, and meaningful communications that help our clients understand Manulife products and services.

The Communications Specialist develops an understanding of the details of complex insurance products and explains those details to clients in plain language. They write contracts, statements, and notices, and creates forms for insurance products. They may also work on other client-facing deliverables including UX copy, privacy information, automated emails, and insurance policies.

The Communications Specialist plans how content is shared across multiple deliverables, and how content is dynamically included or excluded from deliverables based on business rules. They understand the technologies involved to produce product documentation and work with IT to specify the content design and test the resulting outputs. Work is primarily project-based.

Key Accountabilities:

• Develop and maintain product documentation for Individual Insurance Canada suite of products.
• Consult with other business units to understand and respond to customer documentation needs.
• Follow documentation processes and maintain corporate standards in the content you create.
• Collaborate on a daily basis with team members, product directors, technical product experts, business analysts, systems analysts and designers, legal counsel, compliance experts, translators, and external vendors to ensure the quality and accuracy of documents
• Develop and nurture strong professional relationships with employees at all levels of the organization.
• Manage a diverse workload with demanding and/or competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Maintain currency with technical writing trends and technology, including plain language, and content management systems (e.g. Dialogue).
