Rainy River Mine

Situated in beautiful northwestern Ontario, 65 km northwest of Fort Frances, the Rainy River Mine is an open pit, gold and silver producing, residential mine site.
 
The Rainy River Mine, located adjacent to the Ontario / Minnesota border is 65 Kilometers northwest of Fort Frances, Ontario and is situated half way between Winnipeg, Manitoba and Thunder Bay, Ontario  The area is home to more than 130 species of birds and large populations of moose, black bear and deer. If you enjoy outdoor activities including hunting, fishing, winter sports and lake country then this is an area you will love to live and work in.

About The Role

Schedule: 14/14 – 12 hour days

Position Reports To: Chief Geologist

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist technical services geologists with various day to day mapping, sampling and grade control duties in an open pit environment.
  • Assist with Blast hole sampling, collection of field duplicate, data entry, and the delivery of samples to assay lab.
  • Assist with the creation of stakes, and placement of the stakes on broken rock for the delineation of Ore/Waste boundaries to provide guidance to digging equipment.
  • Assist in the Assay Lab Prep area as required.
  • Assist with RC Drill sample collection. This will include working in dusty and noisy environment, repetitive lifting, and maintaining QAQC sampling and labelling standards.
  • Logging of RC chip samples
  • Drill core movement and other general labour activities as required.
  • Assist in the collection of geological information that requires strong geological background.

Qualifications

  • University geology program. Complete year 3 and returning to school, or just completed final undergrad year
  • Previous field experience is an asset
  • Valid Driver’s license
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs
