Job Description & Qualifications

Our tax law group is looking for an enthusiastic, team-oriented and business-minded member to join our Montreal office team.

Our lawyers specializing in tax make sure to offer a complete service that answers all of our clients' tax questions. To this end, the tax practice at Miller Thomson is divided into four major disciplines: corporate tax, tax litigation, personal services and advice to not-for-profit organizations. The person who will join the team must be versatile in order to be able to work with partners from all these sectors.

  • Business Taxation: Our tax law team is involved in a wide range of transactions and tax planning activities. Among other things, she has expertise in organizing and implementing mergers and acquisitions and financing transactions, in the reorganization of public and private companies, in investment funds, real estate investment trusts ( REITs), income trusts and other entities, international taxation, and in executive compensation.
  • Tax dispute: The lawyers in the tax law group make every effort to find the best way to resolve tax disputes, whether at the federal, provincial or international level, and have proven experience in negotiating tax disputes and participation in tax lawsuits. Several of the team's lawyers are skilled in negotiating with tax authorities and frequently participate in appeals heard by various tax and appellate courts.
  • Particular services: Our team offers all the day-to-day and long-term planning services needed by most individuals and private family businesses in Canada. We offer a full range of services including estate planning, personal and corporate income tax and trusts.
  • Non-profit organizations : We represent Canadian and international charities and assist them in all of their activities, including in the areas of taxation, regulation and cross-border financing. Our lawyers have an excellent knowledge of the particularly complex income tax framework in which our clients operate.
