Job Description & Qualifications
The Associate Product Manager serves as an expert on Walmart Canada customer and market, translating market needs into product strategy, vision and roadmap. Coordinating with business and software development teams, he/she will create new and improved customer facing solutions across ecommerce and omni channel domains. Among other things, the Associate Product Manager is responsible for: Evangelizing, aligning, prioritizing and sequencing feature delivery across teams, groups and organization sub-functions/pillars. Translates roadmap into clear user stories that can be built by Product Development team; Leading Product Development to clarify requirements and delivery plan. Analyzing quantitative and qualitative data and feedback for actionable insights, tracking and communicating KPIs and the impact on the business. Bringing simplicity and clarity to issues at hand – distilling complex problems into very manageable and tractable solutions for teams.
- Drives the product discovery process for key initiatives by collaborating with the Business, User Experience, and Engineering Teams during discovery to assess value, usability and feasibility of product features; specifying, prioritizing, and communicating high level and detailed product specifications; and using written specifications, business rules, flows, cases and user experience generated deliverables (for example, prototypes, wireframes, design and copy documents).
- Supports product implementation and deployment for key initiatives by engaging with Engineering and Project Management during implementation to answer questions and make scope trade off decisions; working closely with Business partners to launch products and ensure their adoption; coordinating post-launch activities to validate that the product works as designed and that acceptance testing was successful; managing the development of training materials; training and supporting users on new product features; managing close-loop feedback cycles to encompass customer and user comments and needs; and defining, tracking and improving key product metrics.
- Demonstrates up-to-date expertise in Product Management and applies this to the development, execution, and improvement of action plans by providing expert advice and guidance to others in the application of information and best practices; supporting and aligning efforts to meet customer and business needs; and building commitment for perspectives and rationales.
- Prioritizes requirements appropriately to ensure alignment with success metrics and effectively communicates prioritization to business and engineering partners.
- Leverages guidance from Product Manager or Sr. Product Manager to manage backlog, plan and run SCRUMS, and make ongoing clarifications and trade-offs, in partnership with Engineering.
- Analyzes customer data and market research to provide actionable insights to inform a product roadmap, with guidance from the PM or Sr. PM.
- Elicits the right information to build effective solutions.
- Prepares well-written, well-organized, and professional documents and presentations; edits written products of others to ensure they are presented in a professional manner.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2-3 years of relevant experience in Product Management or 3-5 years in a Business Analyst role is required, preferably within a digital eCommerce industry.
- Bachelor’s degree or MBA is an asset.
- Experience with software development methodology in an Agile environment.
- Solid understanding of analytics and reporting tools to track program success.
