EY's Strategy & Transactions practice is currently looking for a Real Estate Co-op Analyst to join our Transaction Real Estate team in Vancouver for a four-month term (January to April).

EY’s Strategy and Transactions (SaT) team helps clients to manage their capital agenda to drive competitive advantage and increased returns. As part of a global team of 10,000 professionals in 100 countries you will advise clients on preserving, optimizing, raising or investing capital. Major groups (or, as we call them, sub-service lines and competencies) within SaT include Lead Advisory (M&A, Infrastructure Advisory & Transaction Real Estate), Turnaround & Restructuring Strategy, Valuations, Modeling & Economics, Transaction Diligence, Transaction Strategy & Execution and Transactions Tax.

Our Transaction Real Estate (TRE) practice in Canada is part of a team of 500 dedicated real estate transaction professionals located around the globe. These professionals help plan, execute and integrate their clients' transactions strategy effectively, both domestically and across global markets.

As we are client facing, we expect our co-ops to demonstrate professionalism and competence in the client's environment. To maintain a strong client focus, be responsive to client requests, and to develop/maintain productive working relationships with client personnel. Students working for us should keep up to date on current business/economic developments relevant to the client's business and collaborate with team members to set goals and responsibilities for the audit.

Responsibilities include:

  • Valuation of diverse types of commercial real estate assets and portfolios in support of unique engagements including valuation, advisory and transaction services.
  • Synthesize market information to be used in valuation, appraisals, competitive analysis, industry analysis, negotiation support and various other applications.
  • Compiling and analyzing relevant company and industry information, originating from a broad variety of sources (such as financial databases, industry publications, financial statements, and public disclosures).
  • Continuous review of Canadian real estate market trends.
  • Support the team in the preparation of both internal and external presentations.

Qualifications:

  • Be pursuing an undergraduate degree (preferably with a focus on real estate or finance)
  • Have advanced written and verbal communication skills
  • Possess strong dedication to teamwork
  • Be committed to integrity within a professional environment
  • Live within daily commuting distance of our offices in downtown Vancouver
  • Understand key real estate value drivers, risks, and opportunities
  • Have strong computer and financial modeling skills
  • Have flexibility to work irregular or extended hours
  • Have solid technology skills with robust knowledge of Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Have knowledge or interest in the commercial real estate industry in Canada, real estate processes, operations, and/or asset management
  • Have a keen interest in working with both public and private sector clients

The salary range for this job in British Columbia is $56,000 to $62,000. Individual salaries within this range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and work location city.
