Job Description & Qualifications

We're looking for a Networks Engineer to be part of our Networks team to support and maintain the ICT Network and Security infrastructure for TFG.

The Key Performance Areas of this role will be as follows:

  • Supporting and maintain the ICT Network and Security infrastructure for TFG including WAN, LAN, Wireless LAN, Security Appliances, connectively to Data Centers, Distribution Centres, Regional Offices and Manufacturing Centres
  • Provisioning and supporting connectivity to over 3000+ stores
  • Execution of projects which includes enterprise connectivity, distribution switch replacements
  • Resolve incidents, service requests and changes
  • Liaise with the support teams and various divisions


  • Must have a relevant IT Qualification (CCNA Enterprise)
  • CCNP Enterprise, Wireless and/or Data Centre qualification would be an advantage
  • A minimum of 3-5 years relevant Network Engineering experience in a large organisation
  • Experience with installing and configuring network devices from out of box, and upgrade firmware is essential
  • Must be available for shift work and have a valid driver’s license with own vehicle essential

Advantageous skills and experience:

  • Working knowledge of FortiGate firewalls and Fortinet security appliances
  • Experience with MikroTik switches

Preference will be given, but not limited to candidates from designated groups in terms of the Employment Equity Act.

Job Skills/Competencies Required

  • An in-depth knowledge of enterprise switching and related concepts such as spanning tree
  • An understanding routing and routing protocols is essential
  • Must be able to understand how to configure routing in a Cisco environment
  • A strong trouble-shooting skills by making use of “show” and “debug” commands on Cisco devices is required
  • Understanding WLAN concepts and associated security mechanisms is requiredFunctional knowledge of application delivery controllers
  • ITIL knowledge
  • To be highly productive, self-motivated individual who can work autonomously as well as part of a team
  • Excellent communication skills [verbal and written], communicate effectively at all levels & liaise with the support teams and various divisions
  • Ability to work under pressure and display initiative
  • Excellent attention to detail, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong organizational and planning skills with the ability to manage workflows in order to meet service levels
  • A focus on delivering results and meeting customer expectations
  • High Customer Service orientation
