Description

Benson Daniel is a Cloud Computing Consultant with Tquila Limited in London. Below he talks about his career and how he accomplished his goals, and gives you advice on how to be successful in your future.

What do you do?

As a cloud computing expert I am responsible for analysing client requirements and suggesting a suitable business solution for them.

I support the entire development and testing process. I am also responsible for the elegance of Cloud Architecture which results in optimal functionality of the system using minimal resources as possible.

Why do you think you got this job?

I developed skills in cloud computing (namely Salesforce). I had practical knowledge about the software development lifecycle and deployment process. I also had experience in providing solutions to small firms when I was at university. I also developed the skill of marketing myself and acquiring the skills which are currently in demand.

What key advice would you give to current students from India who would like to get into a similar job to you?

Give priority to getting experience in your specific field of study/interest. Acquire skills which are currently in demand. Also, acquire factory knowledge in your specific field of study.

Research the market and find companies who are looking for the skills that you have and submit speculative job applications to those companies.

Most importantly, make contacts with the employers and maintain a relationship with them even when your course is in progress.

What other advice would you give to others graduates?

Learn about your potential employer including their recruitment needs and try and cater to them. Relentless pursuit of a job and a good relationship with your potential employer will always pay out. If possible take them out for coffee!!
