What key advice would you give to current students from China who would like to get into a similar job to you?

Apart from the good qualification, you also need to know how to express yourself in a spoken way. If you do not let others know what you got, others will never know how good you are. Professional knowledge is essential. However, theories might work in the lab all the time but not always in the practice. More experience you got, more thorny issues you can deal with, which means you can better show your strength among your peers.

Please give a brief description of your job and what it involves.

Basically, I help the clients to analyse the current stock situation and give the most feasible advice to their investment. At the same time, I am also in charge of different financing projects.

Why do you think you got this job? (e.g. what skills/knowledge/experience did you have)

Be confident, smile and show the employer what I have done and what I can do. I did an ACCA course and worked for a Chinese accounting firm in the UK for about 2 years after my master degree. This experience made me stand out from the candidates in the job interview. I shared my working experience and also talked about my career plan with realistic consideration, which was appreciated by the employers.

Please feel free to add anything else that you think would be useful to other current students and graduates.

Additional qualification would be a bonus when you look for a job. In my case, ACCA and CFA would be very helpful. As there are more and more oversea students coming back to China, the competition is getting fiercer. Most people come back with a degree but nothing else. The additional qualification will give you more competitive advantage to catch the attention of the employers.
