Job Responsibilities

Strategy

  • Design and implement a clear and effective internal communications strategy for the GSD division and its partners

Policies and Procedures

  • Implement relevant policies, processes and procedures and monitor adherence so that work is carried out in a controlled manner

Day-to-Day Operations

  • Manage the day-to-day operations by providing guidance, encouraging teamwork and facilitating related professional work processes in order to achieve high performance standards

People Development

  • Manage the effective achievement of objectives by setting individual targets, developing and motivating staff in order to maximize subordinate performance

Safety, Quality & Environment

  • Comply with all relevant safety, security, quality, health and environmental procedures to ensure a healthy and safe work environment

Specific Responsibilities

  • Establish an internal communications strategy in conjunction with senior managers
  • Work closely with senior executives to ensure organisational initiatives and projects are successfully communicated to employees and stakeholders
  • Plan, edit and write content for a variety of internal communications mediums, such as a staff intranet, monthly magazine or regular email bulletin. This includes working on the layout of content, press releases, speeches, bylined articles, scripts and corporate videos
  • Storyboard or translate ideas to the creative team of art directors and graphic designers as required
  • Use social media (Yammer) to communicate with staff internally
  • Deliver presentations at organisational events, draft messages or scripts from senior executives for presentation to employees in written or spoken form
  • Ensure internal communications messages are consistent across all mediums and for different departments of the organisation
  • Ensure internal communication messages are consistent with external communication messages
  • Respond to feedback from staff and adjust communications content accordingly
  • Handle the internal communication response to crisis situations which affect organisational perception and reputation
  • Advise senior executives of developments throughout the organisation, either face to face or through regular written communication
  • Prioritize initiatives to be proposed to senior management to ensure they are relevant for department improvement

Education & Experience

  • Minimum Diploma (2 years or more), Degree level education in a literary focused subject would be an advantage.
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in Communications or a similar writing based role
  • Experience of writing for a variety of different audiences
  • General journalistic or marketing experience

Skills

  • Native English language ability, both spoken and written.
  • Meticulous editing, proofreading, research, layout and design skills are essential, to ensure all materials are high quality and accurate
  • Ability to write in both ad-hoc and structured form.
  • Must have the journalistic ability to source stories from employees
  • Must be a confident communicator, speaker and presenter capable of presenting concepts verbally
  • A wide degree of creativity and latitude to devise communication strategies
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of current trends in digital media/social media
  • Familiarity with information technology, especially digital and video means of communication, is essential
  • Must have strong leadership and collaborative skills
  • Self-motivated with a positive and professional approach to management

The Graduate Officers are placed in various departments across the organization and are trained and developed for 12-months to take on an Officer role within their respective departments.  Before they begin, the specific role and Job Description is agreed in collaboration with Business Leadership, HR Business Partners and UAE National Programmes.  During the development programme, the Graduate Officer’s Performance Manager in partnership with Business Leadership will take you through your learning journey by way of comprehensive and detailed Training Plan.  Graduate Officers will also complete technical / role specific training and/or certifications, IT skills, and soft / business skills to help them develop the necessary skills and capabilities to be successful in their future roles.

Job Accountabilities

  • Complete all phases and components within agreed Training Plan as per timeline.
  • Complete all relevant milestones and training as outlined in the individual areas within the Training plan
  • Achieve target results in all classroom, online and certification training.
  • Successful completion of all work-based projects and tasks as assigned.
  • Adherence to all 1-1 monthly scheduled meetings to discuss feedback from the business and the UAE National Programmes’ team.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage responsibilities and training while working through Training Plan.
  • Ability to successfully manage relationships and work in teams to which they are assigned.
  • Adherence to punctuality, attendance, working hours and absence notification guidelines.
  • Achieve targeted results on all programme assessments and exams by the agreed deadline for each.
  • Demonstrate a positive ‘can do’ attitude to support personal and professional development at all times. 

Qualification & education

  • Holding Bachelor’s Degree with CGPA 3.0 and above
  • Excellent written and verbal English language
  • Maximum age 29 years old
  • Completed National Service (male)
  • Motivated to contribute to the progress of the UAE’s national airline

Accountabilities

What you will do?

  • Takes full responsibility for business analysis within a significant segment of an organisation where the advice given, and decisions made will have a measurable impact on the profitability or effectiveness of the organisation. 
  • Leads the selection of appropriate business analysis methods, tools, techniques; selecting appropriately from plan-driven/predictive approaches or more adaptive (iterative and agile) approaches. 
  • Establishes the contribution that technology can make to business objectives, defining strategies, validating and justifying business needs, conducting feasibility studies, producing high-level and detailed business models, overseeing development and implementation of solutions, taking into account the implications of change on the organisation and all stakeholders. 
  • Prepares business cases which define potential benefits, options for achieving these benefits through development of new or changed processes, and associated business risks. Staying up-to-date on the latest process and IT advancements to automate and modernize systems.
  • Collaborates with stakeholders at all levels, in the conduct of investigations for strategy studies, business requirements specifications and feasibility studies.
  • Lead team members to craft clear user stories, design tests for prototypes and products, and continuously deliver product enhancements

Education & Experience

What you’ll need to know:
To be successful in this role you need to be a collaborative and agile thinker that challenges the norm and pushes technical boundaries. Ideally an established Business Analyst from a Data driven environment that can progress and support the longer term strategic vision.

Required capabilities:
Education and expertise

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Accounting or a related field. MBA would be an advantage
  • Ability to lead and coach teams across all delivery aspects.
  • Exceptional analytical and conceptual thinking skills. Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Excellent Communication skills
  • Experience creating detailed reports and giving presentations.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Solid examples of working in both an Agile and Waterfall environment (SAFe certified would be beneficial)
  • Business modelling and Process analysis (user-flow diagrams, experience storyboards, site map architecture diagram)
  • Workshop facilitation

Commercial:

  • Knowledge of the airline/ aviation / travel industries would be preferred but not essential 
  • Solid track record in delivering solutions to impacted business areas in a consultative and user centric mindset.
