Lufthansa Technik Sofia State-of-the-art aircraft overhauls in Eastern Europe Lufthansa Technik Sofia was founded in late 2007 as a joint venture between Lufthansa Technik (75.1 percent) and the Bulgarian Airways Group (24.9 percent). The company specializes in the overhaul and maintenance of Airbus A320 family, Boeing 737 Classic and NG aircraft series. The service spectrum reaches from line maintenance to IL-/D-Checks and includes a full range of additional services such as aircraft painting, special interior works and AOG support.

About 1 100 highly qualified staff work for the German-Bulgarian joint venture in a site that extends over a total area of 50,000 square meters. The geographic location of the facility is ideal to serve customers in Europe, the Middle East and North Africa, and represents an excellent basis for a highly competitive price-performance ratio. The company is residing at Sofia airport, which is upgraded to the latest technological standards, incorporating Lean principles. The modern facility can accommodate and service five narrowbody aircraft for base maintenance simultaneously and one aircraft in a nose-in position for services such as cabin modifications. In addition, two of the bays have full paint capability. Extensive workshops allow Lufthansa Technik Sofia to perform all base maintenance related work in-house or in close cooperation with other facilities in the Lufthansa Technik Group. The company operates under the EASA Part 145 approval of the Lufthansa Technik Group and is certified according to ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001 and EN9110 standards. The product portfolio of Lufthansa Technik Sofia is growing continuously to meet market demands and satisfy the needs of its customers. Starting immediately for 5-6 months. Lufthansa Global Business Services is looking for motivated, qualified and proactive intern (m/f) to support our team. 

Our department IT Shared Services is responsible for all interdisciplinary topics of LGBS IT all around the world, including strategic, commercial and infrastructural issues; the planning, launching and execution of projects as well as the management and operation of IT products. In addition, we provide a pool of project managers and a centralized project management office (PMO). Our department maintains locations in Frankfurt and Krakow, endorsed by local colleagues within the worldwide shared service centers. As an intern you get the opportunity to support the sub department Enabling Technologies and gain insights into management activities. 

Your daily tasks may include the following:

  • Support of IT Product Managers in terms of applications management after Product Go-Live
  • Cost Controlling tasks including invoice control, cost center monitoring and claim management
  • Endorsement of the IT Infrastructure manager referring to all duties in the day-to-day business as well as in all requests and project specific topics
  • Assistance with respect to process design and process standardization
  • Administrative tasks
  • Special tasks depending on your capabilities and interest

Your profile

  • At the date of the internship you have completed the 3rd semester in IT/programming, engineering, business administration, management, economic sciences or similar
  • Enrolled during the entire period of the internship or internship between the Bachelor and Master program (Gap Year), more information you can find here:

Process Specialist is responsible for leading Continues Improvement and Development of Lufthansa Technik Production System;
Process Specialist is enabler for delivery of strategic and corporate objectives through deployment of Lean principles, practices and tools.
Key responsibilities:

 • To provide project leadership, expertise, guidance, coaching and support to the organization in establishing and maintaining a winning culture of Continuous Improvement;
 • To lead Continues Improvement Process in developing, implementing, sustaining and continuously improving processes and strategies;
 • To Lead Structured Problem Solving and bottleneck elimination in the organization;
 • To facilitate the strategic planning process for the Program Architecture - developing programs that balance lean transformation requirements, operational needs  and improvement;
 • To promote and contribute for effective best practices exchange within Lufthansa Technik network;
 • To engage employees for taking active role in continuous improvement;
 • To execute various lean trainings .
