The China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC) is a large state-owned enterprise group with its own famous brands such as Shenzhou and Long March. The company has substantial  intellectual property, outstanding innovative capabilities, and strong core competitiveness.

CASC has it headquarters in Beijing as was formally founded in 1999. The company has 8 large R&D and production complexes, including:

CASC is primarily engaged in the research, design, manufacture and launch of space systems such as launch vehicles, satellites and manned spaceships as well as strategic and tactical missiles. It also provides international commercial satellite launch service and has the capability and experience needed to perform large system engineering management.

Its R&D and industrial bases are mainly distributed over Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, Xi′an, Chengdu, Inner Mongolia, Hong Kong (Shenzhen) and Hainan. It boasts more than 120,000 employees in total, including more than 30 academic from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering.

CASC pays great attention to product development in such areas as satellite applications, information technology, new materials and regenerative energy, special space technology applications, special vehicles, auto parts, and space biology. Over the past decades, CASC has made outstanding contributions to national economic and social development, and scientific and technical progress.

By the end of 2009, CASC had total assets of RMB 153.3 billion. In 2009, its operating revenue nearly reached RMB 70 billion and its total profit was over RMB 7 billion. CASC was ranked among the Top 10 of the existing 125 central enterprises in the annual management performance assessment by the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council for 2008 and 2009.

At present, CASC is constructing a new aerospace industrial system to accelerate the development of its businesses, covering space systems, defence systems, aerospace technology applications, and aerospace services.
