As head of lab team provide technical solutions for complex research assignments using existing and new technologies, methods etc. Actively drive the technical development and knowledge gain for BASF on respective research fields.

Main Tasks:

Research Project Management

  • Develop technical solutions using existing and new technologies, methods etc.
  • Transform the project objectives into work plans for lab team, analyze & interpret experimental results
  • Develop new methods and procedures for synthesis, testing or analysis within the lab team
  • Constantly discuss and align research activities with other project parties (sales & marketing, production, development etc.)
  • Closely watch and achieve project milestones, timeline and budget
  • Present and document results, file patents

Lab Team Leadership

  • Implement and ensure compliance with BASF standards regarding EHS in the lab team activities
  • Organize and supervise roles, responsibilities and work routines within the lab team Instruct, coach the lab team
  • Develop, motivate, inspire lab team members

Scientific Research

  • Continuously observe, analyze and assess scientific and technical trends in products, processes, applications, industries
  • Closely follow and evaluate scientific literature, publications, IP and draw conclusions for BASF
  • Develop ideas for new research projects & topics and discuss within the relevant research and business community 

Requirements:

  • PhD in Chemistry in Chemistry (Focus: Polymer Synthesis or Photo-Initiated Polymerization)
  • At least 5 years of conducting scientific experiments in chemical labs (including PhD period)

Dispersions & Pigments offers a comprehensive range of raw materials for the formulation of coating, dyeing, printing, packaging, adhesive and construction products.

Objectives of the Position · As part of the Operational Controlling team, you will be reporting to Vice Director, Global Operational Controlling, Dispersions & Pigments and support the team in developing dashboards, reporting activities, financial analysis and more

Main Tasks

· Develop dashboards based on financial information from Business Warehouse

· Support in project by setting up server, data model development and designing the database for backend infrastructure

· Support data model development and report migration

· Assist in reporting activities and deliver reports on a timely basis

· Support Controlling team in preparation of financial analysis

Requirements 

· Commitment to a 6-month full-time internship from August 2019

· Students of Bachelor’s Degree or Master's Degree in IT, Computer Science, or related disciplines

· High proficiency in oral and written English

· Proficiency in Advanced MS Excel; knowledge in Power View, Power Pivot, Power BI

· Knowledge in data visualization tool such as Tableau and understanding of relational databases (e.g. SQL)

· Ability to think abstractly, data and information science-driven and have analytical mindset

· Self-starter and able to work independently on assigned projects with limited supervision
