User Experience Designer

This role is based in our Vancouver, BC office.

We are looking for a user experience specialist that is inquisitive, passionate, and excited by challenging interaction design problems. You will be part of the user experience design on a variety of projects, focused on building awesome responsive web experiences for our users. You should be an advocate for our users in strategic and tactical discussions, incorporating business requirements and technical constraints into an optimal user experience. You will collaborate with a team of UX specialists on providing a unified, cohesive user experience across our suite of community insight tools.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • An in-depth understanding of the product vision to ensure alignment of the user experience amongst internal stakeholders
  • Being able to design at a high-level while ensuring smaller features are consistent with the larger product vision and user experience
  • Initiating and facilitating collaborative discussions that help drive strategic discussions and decisions that advocate for our users
  • Effectively communicate with external and internal stakeholders through the creation of design assets, including sketching, storyboarding, wireframing, prototyping
  • Working with our user experience research team to plan and conduct user research, from exploratory research to post-release evaluation
  • Engaging stakeholders across the company in our shared vision for user experience

Job requirements:

  • 3+ years (minimum) of experience designing interactive products as an interaction designer, UX designer, or a similar role
  • Portfolio of work that demonstrates your approach to solving user experience design problems
  • Exposure to Omnigraffle/Sketch, Invision, Photoshop, or similar tools for creating prototypes and other user experience design documentation
  • Familiarity with responsive web design
  • Familiarity with HTML/CSS to aid in prototyping interactions and responsive strategies
  • Self-motivated, eager to take ownership and initiative, with the ability to prioritize effort and deliver excellent user experience concepts appropriately and in a timely fashion

The Job

As a developer on our team, you’ll work in an agile environment developing our SaaS application that helps hundreds of the world’s top brands make their products and services better. You'll play an active role in building the next generation of our platform using some of the latest technologies. We’re building a next generation customer experience platform to enable users to interact with brands they love, gain access to inside information, and drive loyalty.

The Experience

  • Bachelor degree in computer science or equivalent experience is preferred
  • Minimum of four (4) year's experience as a software developer building SaaS applications
  • Strong in one or more development languages such as Go, Java or JavaScript
  • Experienced in front-end technologies such as React and jQuery as well as in HTML5 and CSS
  • Working knowledge of serverless technologies such as AWS (S3, CloudFront, CloudFormation, Lambda, Step Functions) or Microsoft Azure
  • Experienced in one or more database technologies such as SQL Server, Oracle or PostgreSQL
  • Comfortable working anywhere in the tech stack, front-end or back-end
  • Have a test first development mentality and understand when a unit, contract or integration test is required
  • Thrive in a team environment, enjoy collaborating, and curious about how things work
  • Enjoy the creative process, finding solutions to problems and relish building products that delight customers
  • Passionate about software development and stay informed about the latest developments in the industry

The Role

  • As an IT Operations Analyst, your role will be to support the vision and mission of the Business Technology Enterprise team. You will be working closely with the Operations and Project Management teams within the Toronto office and in our other major offices (Vancouver, London). Your day-to-day will consist of ensuring health and uptime of our corporate infrastructure, managing your own projects from end-to-end and ensuring a high level of quality at every phase of the project.
  • You will be involved in team planning meetings, helping build our roadmap for 2018 and beyond. You will work closely with your Enterprise Services peers, from things like planning and executing scheduled maintenance windows to high level strategies: how does our team need to grow and function in order for us to achieve our vision; how do we interact with the rest of the Business Technology teams, and the rest of the business:
  • Work closely with other Business Technology teams: Operations and Project Management
  • Plan, design and implement new technologies, systems and applications
  • Maintain and manage our office infrastructure including servers and global network

About You:

Must Have

  • 3+ years minimum of experience showing increased responsibilities over time in your career
  • Previous experience with IT Operations, Help Desk and Problem Management tools or procedures
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to deal with users at various levels in the organization
  • Good relationship building skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail and consistency are key qualities for this position
  • Experience with Windows Server 2012R2/2016 including specific roles (Active Directory, IIS, File Sharing, NPS/RADIUS, WSUS, DHCP, DNS)
  • Proven experience in incident identification, diagnosis, troubleshooting, resolution, and solution implementation
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent documentation practices
  • Experience managing projects, objectives and deliverables
  • Completed a post-secondary diploma or degree or equivalent experience

Nice to Have

  • Experience with the following technologies: ServiceNow, Office 365, Meraki, Azure, AWS, Confluence

  • Experience with SaaS SSO providers: Onelogin
