The opportunity

Your key responsibilities

As an Accounting & Tax Technician, you'll:

  • Verify tax assessments
  • Prepare financial statements
  • Research general tax issues
  • Assist with preparation of Notices of Objection
  • Interact with tax authorities
  • Develop direct contacts with clients
  • Providing clients with quality, timely and responsive services and work products
  • Carry out administrative work, such as prepare bills and letters to clients

To qualify for the role you must have

  • College diploma in accounting, finance or tax, or equivalent
  • Previous related tax experience; insurance industry experience (an asset)

The opportunity

Your key responsibilities

You will be working closely with colleagues across our national team to execute a wide variety of challenging and exciting real estate engagements related to strategic analysis, options analysis, transaction development, negotiations, execution and operational efficiencies. You may also support other industry coverage teams on the execution of national mandates.

To qualify for the role you must have

  • Minimum 2+ years of related work experience, preferably in a Real Estate environment
  • Experience in commercial, financial and strategic analysis (financial modelling an asset)
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, Real Estate, Economics, Land Use Planning
  • A strong understanding of the commercial real estate industry in Canada
  • Working knowledge of the Canadian and International Finance and Accounting concepts and principles - CPA not required
  • Strong written and verbal communication/presentation skills
  • Strong project management skills and ability to structure work
  • Understanding of key business drivers

Your key responsibilities

Your role as a Tax Staff or Senior Tax Staff will give you the opportunity to combine corporate tax work with structured and virtual learning. Our curriculum will build your career in Canadian Corporate tax; includes work experience in tax compliance, tax accrual reviews, tax provisions and tax planning. Our people work on key client issues in domestic corporate income taxation, with a focus on implementing tax strategies that align with the client's business objectives.

  • Discuss moderately complex tax issues with the engagement team and client management.

To qualify for the role you must have

  • Either:
    • A bachelor's degree, preferably with an emphasis in accounting, finance, or a related field
    • A diploma in accounting with a minimum of 2 years of relevant tax/ accounting experience or equivalent experience in business or industry
  • Either: Attained or close to qualifying for an accounting designation (CPA or equivalent) or Completed or enrolled in a Masters of Taxation program
  • Exceptional PC proficiency including Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • The ability to manage time spent against budget and work alongside team members to ensure the timely completion of exceptional client service
  • Excellent managerial, organizational, and verbal/written communication skills
