  • Assists with the deployment of hardware and software to end users (including the installation, configuration and testing of more complex firm hardware)
  • Assists with provisioning and deprovisioning processing, including setting up of hardware/software for new hires, and receiving hardware from separating employees
  • Assists with (or coordinates) the repair of end user hardware and the reinstallation of software as necessary to resolve end user incidents
  • Resolves incidents associated with firm-standard end user software and hardware, including mobile/hand-held technologies Identify sources and trends of technical problems to prevent future occurrences
  • Under minimal supervision, provides after-hours service for escalated issues from the Service Desk or supervisor
  • Performs asset management activities (procurement, receipt, inventory, tracking, distribution, etc) in accordance with firm policy and IT Service process
  • Assists with off-site support for firm sponsored functions/meetings
  • Performs asset management responsibilities as assigned by supervisor
  • Assists with IT tasks related to office moves, buildouts and relocations
  • Operates as “remote hands” for other IT functions, such as Telecommunications and Hosting
  • Maintains a thorough understanding of IT Services’ organization and service offerings in order to identify how best to address end user technology needs and incidents
  • Understands the Firm’s business and organization sufficiently to anticipate and resolve end user technology issues that affect productivity of Firm personnel

Analytical/Decision Making Responsibilities:

  • Strong analytical skills are required to address end-user incidents escalated from the service desk or offered by end user on walk-up issues
  • Decision making responsibilities are limited to addressing a single end-user issue; need to be able to prioritize incidents being worked on and communicate those priorities to end users as necessary
  • This role receives direct oversight from a supervisor, with regular (at least daily, but more frequently for new hires) contact to monitor and assign activities 

Knowledge and Skills Requirements:

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills
  • Excellent customer service attitude
  • Ability to work effectively with all levels of end users and IT personnel 

Job Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience 

Experience:

  • Approximately 1 to 4 years of experience in end user technology support

The opportunity

We are seeking associate Product Engineers for a brand-new technology development hub being established in Vancouver. This new technology centre will work closely with EY Canada business counterparts and the EY Global Client Technology teams to drive profitable revenue growth and enable market differentiation through asset-powered solutions. We need technology to keep an organization the size of ours working efficiently. We partner with business teams to marry their client knowledge and innovative ideas with our platforms, capabilities and technology expertise and to scale and industrialize these to provide technology solutions for the benefit of EY’s clients globally.

Your key responsibilities

As a Product Engineer @EYT, you will participate in project teams through all phases of a project:

  • Design & develop resilient, scalable, multi-tenant micro-services

  • Set up and perform testing (A/B, unit, Integration, performance and tuning) to enable high performance / low latency services

  • Inline documentation in code and code reviews to improve coding standards / performance

  • Work alongside a team of Engineers in delivering products globally

  • Experiment with emerging technology

  • Participate in hackathons

  • Help transform EY Technology into a product organization

 Skills and attributes for success

  • Ability to:

    • Engineer algorithms and data structures, problem solve, and build to scale

    • Handle ambiguity and progress with imperfect information

    • Produce clean, re-usable code

    • Learn project management skills to push projects over the finish line with sound planning and execution

    • Knowledge of one or many of the following coding languages: Java / JavaScript / DotNet technologies

    • Experience in build/CI/CD tools

  • Knowledge of:

    • One or many scripting languages and Operating Systems

    • Data modelling, database technologies and data visualization/analysis

    • DevOps, Agile/Scrum

    • Cloud computing, OpenStack and application, infrastructure and resilience

Our curriculum will build your career in Canadian Corporate tax; includes work experience in tax compliance, tax accrual reviews, tax provisions and tax planning. Our people work on key client issues in domestic corporate income taxation, with a focus on implementing tax strategies that align with the client's business objectives.

During your work term, your potential responsibilities may include:

• Interface with clients and team members to secure tax data
• Collect/convert tax compliance data into an electronic format
• Analyze data and prepare work papers based on professional standards
• Determine the accuracy/completeness of the compliance product, perform quality assurance procedures, and prepare the product for delivery
• Bring potential opportunities to the team's attention
• Preparing corporate tax returns and auditing tax provisions
• Analyze fund trading records
• Determine differences in US taxable income and accounting income
• Review of fund general ledgers to identify applicable US tax adjustments
• Review and testing of draft client deliverable packages
• Seek, develop, and present ideas to apply EY's knowledge and services

Qualifications:

• Be in pursuit of an undergraduate or graduate degree in accounting; having completed all prerequisite courses and requirements to begin the CPA PEP program upon commencement of full-time employment
• Have advanced written and verbal communication skills
• Possess strong dedication to teamwork
• Be committed to Integrity within a professional environment
