Responsibilities
We are looking for someone that can:

  • Develop financial models within broadly defined guidelines
  • Synthesize research information to be used in modeling, competitive analysis, industry analysis, negotiation support and various other applications
  • Draft 1st draft of marketing materials
  • Prepare presentations for client meetings
  • Support other members of the team in identifying and exploring potential new business.
  • Support transaction execution for buy side, sell side and financing assignments
  • Interface with client management on transaction related issues
  • Generally support the deal team on transaction advisory assignments

 

Qualifications of this position are as follows:

  • Undergraduate degree
  • CPA, CFA or CBV designation would be strongly preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a relevant field (M&A, Accounting, Financing)
  • Bilingual with strong French and English oral and writing skills
  • Working knowledge of the Canadian and international finance and accounting concepts and principles as it relates to M&A transactions
  • Strong project management and multi-tasking skills
  • Strong computer and financial modeling skills
  • Understanding of key business drivers.
  • The successful candidate for this position will have strong written and verbal communication/presentation skills, superior analytical skills, people skills and have been recognized for their 'roll up the sleeves' attitude and high levels of creative energy and enthusiasm.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in due diligence in buy and sell side engagements related to acquisitions by private equity investor groups and strategic corporate buyers.
  • Analyse financial/operational results of targets through reviewing accounting records and conducting interviews with management.
  • Prepare/evaluate pro forma financial information.
  • Identify issues for purchase price reductions, deal structuring or deal termination.
  • Identify post-acquisition action steps to achieve anticipated earnings/cash flow improvements.
  • Evaluate effects of seasonality on cash flow requirements. Perform industry and company research.
  • Correlate due diligence findings with client valuations. Manage expectations of service.  Develop people.
  • Supervise staff effectively. Provide constructive feedback/training and conduct performance reviews.
  • Understand/follow workplace policies. 
  • Use technology to continually develop knowledge and enhance EY service delivery. 
  • Generate new business opportunities.
  • Understand EY's service lines, and new opportunities for EY to serve clients.
  • Develop long-term relationships and networks.

 

To qualify, candidates must have:

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Accounting and/or related major.
  • CA or CPA certification.
  • Minimum of 5 years of public accounting experience.
  • Strong analytical and interpersonal skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Dedication to teamwork.

  • Developing portfolio and accommodation plans.
  • Overseeing and developing financial models and business cases.
  • Providing risk advisory services.
  • Assisting and leading real estate performance improvement initiatives.
  • Leading engagements and coaching other team members.
  • Playing a key role in business development and marketing initiatives in the public sector, across all levels of government.
  • Advising public sector clients on leading practices relating to frameworks and policies.
  • Preparing and delivering presentations to clients.
  • Understanding of both private and public sector real estate issues and familiarity with innovative real estate transactions.
  • Continuous review and solid understanding of Canadian real estate market trends.

We are interested in candidates who have:

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the real estate industry. 
  • Experience with various types of real estate, with particular emphasis on public sector real estate.
  • Undergraduate degree (preferably with a focus on finance or real estate).
  • A strong understanding of the Canadian public sector real property domain.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Understanding of key real estate value drivers, risks and opportunities.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Strong computer and financial modeling skills
  • Flexibility to work irregular or extended hours
  • Solid technology skills with robust knowledge of Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
