The Business Immigration specialists at EY Law LLP manage a range of business immigration services to multinational clients. The role of Immigration Support Specialist – Entry Level Law Clerk, within EY Law LLP, involves working under the supervision of Immigration Attorneys to provide support in all aspects of legal immigration services to multinational corporations.

Your key responsibilities

Under the supervision of an Attorney, you will:

  • Be primarily responsible for drafting and preparing visa application forms, support letters, and documentation
  • Attend and participate in weekly team and client meetings as scheduled
  • Answer emails, dealing with straightforward queries, escalating to the Attorney as necessary
  • Provide ad hoc support to team members when working on projects, document production, etc.
  • General filing of client documents and file retrieval
  • Gather, modify, create, maintain and/or track data and reports
  • Potentially be requested to work extra hours during important deadlines (such as month ends, quarter ends, and year ends)
Skills and attributes for success
  • Proven writing skills, including the ability to present information in a clear and organized manner

The opportunity 
 
As an Accounting Technician, you will be a professional member of our Assurance practice. Together with our substantial investments in technology, knowledge, and learning resources for our audit professionals, you will be part of the team that delivers quality assurance services to our clients and their stakeholders.

Your key responsibilities 

As an Accounting Technician, you will spend approximately 25% of your time  assisting Managers in organizing the workflow, supporting the organization of review and compilation engagements, preparing corporate, trust, and personal taxes, and in managing communication with the client. The other 75% of your time will be spent providing bookkeeping services to one of our clients on a daily/weekly/monthly basis. You will manage accounts receivable, payable, inventory and project job costing (among other duties) and will participate in the improvement of financial management through consistent accounting practices and accurate monthly reporting.

Skills and attributes for success - Accountant

  • Prepare review and notice to reader engagements in Caseware 
  • Prepare adjusting entries and financial statements 
  • Prepare account summaries and reconciliations 
  • Complete corporate tax returns and liaise with our tax professionals 
  • Assist managers with client meeting preparation 
  • Prepare correspondence to clients and the Canada Revenue Agency 
  • Respond to other duties as required 

Skills and attributes for success - Bookkeeper

  • Maintain the accounts receivable and project job costing processes, including processing commissions, chargebacks and special billings, reviewing aged accounts receivable listing and following up as required, compiling and analyzing projects, reviewing deferred revenue and adjusting based on delivery terms and WIP review and adjustment. 
  • Maintain the accounts payable process, including coding and entry of invoices, credit card reconciliations, processing of payments and reconciliation of vendor accounts.
  • Preparation of monthly bank reconciliations
  • Review and management of inventory process, including organizing and adjusting for physical inventory counts 
  • GST, VAT and US sales tax jreview, including monthly reporting and processing of payments 
  • Prepare account reconciliations and other working papers and review with client
  • Prepare variance analysis for profit and loss and balance sheet accounts and review with client
  • Respond to other duties as required

To qualify for the role you must have

  • Must possess a university degree and/or college diploma 
  • Must possess accounting software (Caseware or similar) knowledge 
  • 2-4 years of accounting and tax experience in a public accounting firm performing the above role
  • 2-5 years of bookkeeping experience
  • Must be proficient in AccPac (or similar) and with Excel

Corporate Finance Strategy (EY Parthenon) is EY’s executive strategy practice. Your key responsibilities

We are looking for a strong candidate to join as an Analyst in the Canadian Corporate Finance Strategy (EY Parthenon) team. It will fill an integral role that involves working closely with other members of the rapidly growing Americas Corporate Finance Strategy (EY Parthenon) team to deliver a variety of engagements.

We are looking for someone who can:

  •    Deliver on client projects, generate ideas to maximize assignment profitability and support revenue generation initiatives
  • ·  Performing secondary research using a variety of sources (e.g. analyst reports, market research reports, news articles)
  •    Understanding, manipulating and interpreting financial and technical data and client information, drawing appropriate conclusions.
  •    Executing various analyses (e.g., industry structure-performance and conduct, customer segmentation, market intelligence, competitor analysis, forecasting) to support the strategic recommendations
  • Designing and executing in-depth interview guides with key organizational stakeholders, industry experts and customers
  • Reviewing business plans and pro-forma financial models to identify key assumptions and drivers
  • Generate new business opportunities and develop long term relationships and network internally and externally. Assist with pitch materials
  • Producing written file notes, letters, presentations and reports.
  • Staying up to date with Canadian and global energy news, transactions and innovations.

Ideal qualifications for this position include:

  •       Engineering, Finance or Commerce undergrad (MBA an asset)
  •       Consulting experience
