CI Investments has been managing money on behalf of Canadian investors since 1965. In 1981, CI entered the global fund arena with the introduction of CI Pacific Fund – one of the first funds in Canada devoted to Asian markets. The company became known for its expertise in foreign funds and adopted the name Canadian International Fund Management.

We are currently seeking an Internal Wholesaler who is professional, coachable and accountable to join our Sales team in Toronto. In this role, the successful candidate will work in partnership with the VP, Sales and Sales Associate to identify, develop, and strengthen advisor relationships within a specific territory to achieve significant net sales.   

This role will have a specific focus on significant and proactive territory prospecting, while maintaining existing advisor relationships, in partnership with the VP, Sales and Sales Associate. 

What you will do

  • Perform pro-active call and sales campaigns to promote CI Investments’ product offerings to existing and potential clients
  • Generating referrals for your respective wholesalers
  • Respond to inquiries on products, fund management strategies, portfolio manager philosophies/processes/styles and industry trends
  • Develop sales campaigns and assist in delivery of sales presentations, in partnership with VP, Sales and Sales Associate
  • Provide sales strategies, concepts, marketing ideas and support to financial advisors, in collaboration with VP, Sales and Sales Associate
  • Proactively prospect/identify financial advisors who are interested in CI Investment funds and are open to incorporating CI funds into their book of business; internal wholesalers will be required to understand the goals, expectations and needs of advisors by utilizing a consultative, question based sales process
  • Book meetings for the VP, Sales with qualified advisors who are interested in incorporating CI investment solutions into investor portfolios
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of CI funds, market trends, advisor trends and investor trends
  • Work closely with and support efforts of other team members
  • Act as a sales resource for the VP, Sales during vacation and other absences
  • Updating daily call activities and maintaining accurate advisor records within Salesforce on a timely basis
  • Achieving annual activity productivity targets in the areas of: proactive calls, Know Your Advisor information and meetings booked as set by the Sales Management team 

What you will bring

  • Minimum 2 years financial services industry experience in a sales capacity
  • University degree in Business Administration
  • Financial services designations (e.g. CSC, CFP, CIM, CFA).
  • Securities, mutual fund products, and investment industry experience an asset
  • Advanced expertise in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in managing relationships with clients
  • Strong time management and organization skills with the ability to meet deadlines
  • Resourcefulness and creative problem-solving skills to provide effective solutions for clients 

Working conditions

We are currently seeking a Bilingual Compliance Officer, Surveillance to join our Compliance team. In this role, the successful candidate is expected to monitor client account activity of Assante advisors in accordance with internal procedures and regulatory requirements and to actively provide support to Assante advisors and Branch Managers on surveillance related issues.

What will you do

  • Conduct, monitor and document daily and monthly head office reviews of client account activity with a focus on criteria outlined in MFDA & IIROC Policies and other regulatory/corporate guidelines 
  • Identify trends developing in trading of specific advisors and/or client accounts with an emphasis on suitability, concentration, potential conflicts of interest and unusual transactions, conducting detailed analysis and escalating concerns to the Manager of Surveillance where necessary 
  • Follow up on inquiries from daily and monthly reviews with advisors and/or branch managers. 
  • Prepare weekly and monthly summaries of follow up work and ad hoc reports as required. 
  • Functions as a key point of contact and resource on Surveillance related inquiries and requests from employees and Branches (including advisors, Branch Managers and support staff) 
  • Compliance officers will also be delegated additional core tasks such as email surveillance, reviewing and maintaining pro-accounts and other tasks as warranted 
  • Provide training to new compliance officers and other staff members 
  • Continually evaluate the effectiveness of departmental procedures and participate in developing, maintaining and implementing changes to the policies and procedures. 
  • Work on special projects as requested 

What you will bring

  • University degree or college diploma 
  • Bilingual in English and French, written and verbal 
  • 2 - 4 years’ experience within Financial Services in sales, support or supervisory role 
  • Previous compliance experience in dealership setting (IIROC or MFDA) is a definite asset 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills 
  • PC literate with advanced knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Word) 
  • Completion of Canadian Securities Course (CSC)
  • Completion of Conduct and Practices Handbook (CPH), or willing to enroll within six months of hire 
  • Completion of, or willing to enroll in, Branch Manager Course would be an asset
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a fast paced environment
  • Detail-oriented, extremely self-motivated, dedicated and a good team player
