Job Description
Purpose Of Role :
 
Pricing role within Client Operations
 
Fund Accountants are responsible for reviewing the production of accurate valuations and associated deliverables to meet client and publication deadlines.
 
Specific Duties :
 
Daily/Monthly Deliverables :
 
Daily pricing and review of a number of funds using State Street in house systems and Excel.
Daily validation of all purchases, sales, corporate actions and income events. 
Preparation and review of cash and stock reconciliations, also reconciliations of expenses, interest, dividends and withholding tax.
Preparation of yield calculations. 
Preparation of monthly Trustee reconciliations and updating monthly trustee discrepancy letters.
Preparation of monthly income distributions.
Responding to queries from trustees, custodians and clients.
To ensure that all events (trades, income, expenses, etc.) are updated within the general ledger accurately and in a timely manner.
To research breached tolerances and provide adequate explanations and backup where appropriate
Responsibility to raise to a senior any tolerances that have been breached where no explanation can be found
Identify and implement process and product improvements, documenting where necessary.
Work with the Team Leader to prepare appropriate contingency plans for work of the team and be aware of team’s role in the Business Continuity Plan.
Ensure adherence to all departmental and companywide procedural guidelines (e.g. timekeeping, dress, and holiday cover)
Maintain up to date procedures and client deliverable details.
Undertake, where necessary, the tasks of an Administrator.
Communication :
 
Communicating effectively with colleagues through formalised reporting and liaison on ad hoc matters
Ensure effective logging and resolution of enquiries and liaise with appropriate parties to resolve/ escalate queries / problems within agreed timescales.
Ensure the line manager and others, as appropriate, are kept aware of all issues/problems/queries/work in progress that may impact upon the quality of service being given.
Administration :
 
Undertake appropriate housekeeping duties e.g. filing and operation of clean desk policy.
Training and Personal Development :
 
Take responsibility for personal development and training.
Work with the Line Manager to identify objectives at the start of each year and keep them up to date.
Actively participate in the appraisal process by completing a self-evaluation and suggesting appropriate development.
 Other :
 
Involvement in departmental ad-hoc projects.
Make recommendations for changes to processes and procedures and prepare documentation for review as required
Qualifications
  
 
Specific Qualifications / Skills :
 
Experience of working in fund accounting or similar environment is preferred
Good understanding of fund accounting and/or pricing process.
An excellent understanding of accounting principles.
An excellent understanding of financial markets and financial instruments.
MCH knowledge preferred
A good working knowledge of MS Excel.
High numeric/analytical ability and attention to detail.
Good interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to cope with a steep learning curve and take a proactive approach to learning.
Advanced organisation skills and ability to work in a pressurised, deadline-driven environment absolutely essential.
