Position Summary:

Optimize the financial performance and investment return of the Walmart Canada Marketplace lead by Director/VPs. Manage business performance, identify risks/opportunities and recommend corrective action to ensure financial goals are met.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop the annual budgets by aligning targets with lead business partner, including setting targets based on market dynamics, historical performance, and any known capital and/or expense investments. Partner with the business leads to prioritize spend and capital investments against their strategic objectives and ensure that they deliver against their sales, leverage, and investment return goals.
  • Manage performance and hold the business team accountable to delivery of P&L results through the cadence of the monthly forecast and business review process.  Proactively analyze key trends, identify risks and opportunities, and recommend plans and contingencies to support the business teams’ delivery against annual financial targets.  
  • Partner/align with the business leads to develop the 3 year plan. Partner with the business to develop and implement operational building blocks to deliver against the long term goals.  Influence the business on enablers required to deliver against the goals and proactively partner on identifying alternatives based on known risks or gaps.
  • Create and distribute standard and ad hoc management reports that provide clear and synthesized understanding of financial performance.
  • Manage the process and tools to onboard Sellers onto the Walmart Canada Marketplace from a financial perspective. These include the  initial development of the process to pay Sellers, working with the Tax team and any tax implications, issue resolution and post go-live support/resolution if standard procedures do not solve the issue.
  • Drive associate engagement by valuing associates, listening and responding to concerns and recognizing accomplishments

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Education Required:     Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum Years of Experience Required: 1-2 years
  • Strong interpersonal & presentation skills
  • Result oriented and critical thinking – high sense of ownership
  • Strong organization skills, able to meet conflicting deadlines
  • Proficient to advance level: SAP, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Experience in Retail or e-Commerce Finance is an asset

 

Licensing & Other Qualifications:

CPA (or working towards) or MBA Preferred

Position Summary:

The Senior Financial Analyst, Strategic Cost Management will provide analytical support to the Strategic Cost Management function of Walmart. The successful candidate will provide analyses that will be used to create cost-focused strategies to engineer value for the organization. The successful candidate will also have an opportunity to participate in the strategy development process and collaborate with cross-functional business partners through this process. 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Partner with other functions in finance to compile and analyze internal and external data sets, including financial, operational, and customer metrics. Leverage analyses to develop emerging thoughts on strategic implications for Walmart.  
  • Track and monitor progress of key projects and initiatives to generate reporting to facilitate company-wide accountability to key project objectives. Proactively analyze key trends, identify risks and opportunities, and recommend plans and contingencies to support the business teams’ delivery against annual financial targets.  
  • Support Walmart’s Three Year Planning and Annual Planning processes by providing key insights and analyses in furtherance of the company’s value engineering objectives. Work with business partners in and out of finance to model initiatives for incorporation into the Three Year Plan.  
  • Fully develop business cases for key strategic cost management initiatives and priorities. Fully vet all assumptions in cash flow models.  
  • Identify opportunities to improve process and systems and implement standardized solutions across area of responsibility. 
  • Participate in the research and design phases of the value engineering process – challenge ideas, and help develop strategy and tactical execution plan  
  • Provide financial analysis support to Walmart’s corporate strategy team on an as needed basis. 

 

Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years of related experience and a Bachelor’s Degree
  • Strong interpersonal & presentation skills
  • Result oriented and critical thinking – high sense of ownership
  • Extreme comfort with ambiguous concepts
  • Strong organization skills, able to meet conflicting deadlines
  • Proficient to advance level: SAP, Essbase, Powerpoint, SQL

MBA or CMA/CA/CGA/CFA/CPA an asset
