Job Description & Qualifications

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide technical services in a field and office environment
  • Work with and provide support to other members of the field technician group in assisting with other field and office activities as required
  • Working on all geotechnical assignments on projects of low to high complexity;
  • Completing analysis of information and report preparation;
  • Supervise and/or carry out site geotechnical investigations
  • Participate in a team environment and strong communicator 
  • Strong workplace health and safety practices 
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in geotechnical, civil or geological engineering, or a related field;
  • 1-2 years previous experience in geotechnical investigations;
  • Ontario Driver's License and access to a reliable vehicle;
  • Must be mobile and willing to work on a combination of field and office work;
  • Occasional travel will be required;
  • Proficiency with common geotechnical and other software is an asset;
  • Excellent organizational ability, report writing and verbal communication in English are essential;
  • Ability to think and act independently, while accepting direction;
  • Enthusiastic, resourceful, organized, and detail oriented;
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and have the ability to communicate effectively and to proactively respond to time-sensitive issues;
  • Excellent computer and technical writing skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced and multi-tasked environment are essential.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Managing the environmental component of Infrastructure Impact Assessment projects
  • Proposal writing and coordination
  • Compiling environmental information through internal and external contacts
  • Developing and implementing consultation programs
  • Responding to and resolving stakeholder concerns
  • Liaising with staff at affiliate offices and with project sub-consultants
  • Preparation of IA documentation

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Planning, Environmental Studies, Urban Planning, environmental Science or related field
  • 5+ years of experience
  • Previous experience in application of MTO and Municipal Class EA process an asset
  • Previous experience in application of the TPAP process (Reg. 231/08) an asset
  • Familiar with Canadian Environmental Assessment Act and the IEA process
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Class G Ontario driver license and access to a vehicle is required
  • Demonstrated ability to present information and issues in a clear and concise manner
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Full member of the Ontario Professional Planners Institute and Canadian Institute of Planners (RPP and MCIP)
  • Existing client relationships with MTO, Metrolinx and GTA municipalities
  • Excellent organizational abilities
  • Previous consultant experience would be an asset

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Engineering and project management support for current and future materials testing and investigations;
  • Support current proposal and field reporting backlog;
  • Review field reports and provide high level site investigations;
  • Review lab reports prior to submission;
  • Support engineering reporting as needed and provide project management on small programs;
  • Coordinate staff on existing projects;
  • Other duties as assigned. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in geo-engineering, geotechnical, environment, environmental management, or related field; 
  • Intermediate years of experience in geotechnical project coordination in a consulting engineering or construction environment; 
  • Experienced in materials testing with knowledge of geotechnical engineering practices;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook;
  • Solid understanding of construction quality control specifications for reporting purposes;
  • Good understanding of financial tools.
